USA with a miracle comeback in the Confederations Cup, defeating Egypt 3-0, and getting through to the tournament semifinals after Brazil embarrassed Italy 3-0.
This was some of the best soccer I’ve seen the U.S. play in a long time. Next up: World #1 (to the extent that means anything in soccer) Spain. As bonafide giant killers of the Iberian peninsula (and provider of my favorite moment ever as a U.S. soccer fan), I like our chances.
As a side note, I love the announcer on the video posted here. His unintelligible words punctuated every few seconds with “Charlie Davis” or “Jozy Altidore” remind of watch U.S. soccer on Telemundo, and in particular the Spanish-language commercials where the only words I understood were “AT&T One Rate.”
